JD.com Upgrades PLUS Enterprise Membership, Helping SMEs Move from "Buying Smart" to "Running Well"

News2026-08-28
On August 28, JD.com announced a major upgrade to its "PLUS Enterprise Membership," the first paid membership system in the corporate procurement sector. While retaining core benefits such as an additional 5% discount on already discounted items, free shipping on self-operated products, and interest-free payment terms, the upgrade adds new benefits across products, pricing, and services—extending the service boundary from procurement to all aspects of daily business operations.

Validated by 100,000 Member Companies, Procurement Costs Down 20% on Average
Since its launch in August 2025, JD's "PLUS Enterprise Membership" has attracted 100,000 member companies across multiple industries, including machinery manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, AI robotics, automotive, internet, and hospitality. According to JD's internal data calculations, member companies have achieved an average 20% reduction in procurement costs, and their purchasing frequency is 3.5 times that of non-members. Over the past year, JD has invested more than RMB 500 million in subsidies for PLUS Enterprise Members.

Ma Yushan, Vice President of JD's Government and Enterprise Business and General Manager of the Small and Medium Customer Business Department, revealed at a media briefing that as of the first half of this year, the team had conducted on-site visits and surveys of over 5,000 SMEs. It was through this front-line research that they captured the profound changes in business needs. "The relationship between SMEs and JD is no longer just a buyer-seller procurement relationship. Beyond procurement, companies hope that a 'chain leader' like JD can help them open markets in areas such as business development and policy alignment. At the same time, the AI-native era is continuously lowering the barriers to digital transformation for businesses."

Three Major Upgrades: Turning Procurement from a "One-Time Transaction" into a "Long-Term Service"
The upgrade centers on three key dimensions:

Ecosystem: JD has built a one-stop integrated service matrix, adding a new "Business Services Supply Package" that integrates third-party resources including Changjietong and WPS365, with support for point redemption. It also offers exclusive corporate travel pricing for flights, hotels, and trains, with discounts up to 30% off through the "Business Service Preferred Price," expanding from procurement cost reduction to comprehensive business operation resources.

Services: The financial solutions have been adjusted, with Classic Card offering up to 41-day interest-free terms and Premium Card up to 61 days, supported by JD's "Jincai" credit service to ease cash flow pressure. Additionally, the upgrade converts the original single primary card into a "1 primary card + 3 sub-cards" model, enabling multi-account collaborative purchasing for unified management across multiple departments and branches. A new "Business Study Camp" has been added, hosting numerous corporate site visits, industry summits, and park exchange events throughout the year, building industry connection channels for entrepreneurs and promoting rapid integration and growth among large, medium, and small enterprises.

Products: The upgrade opens up tens of millions of products for PLUS-exclusive instant discounts, distributes a monthly coupon package worth RMB 2,180 by category value, offers large subsidy events on the 8th and 18th of each month, and implements volume-based rebate policies to further amplify procurement price advantages.

The upgraded PLUS Enterprise Membership is now officially available on JD Business Procurement, with customized advanced versions planned for businesses at different development stages.

AI Procurement Assistant: Reduces 80% of Repetitive Work
If membership benefits are the "soft service," then AI technology is the "hard foundation" of this upgrade. As JD Group's core platform serving government and enterprise clients, JD's Government and Enterprise Business has built a three-in-one architecture of "AI entry point + procurement agent hub + scenario-based supply chain fulfillment."

The AI procurement assistant, built on JD's JoyAI large model for SMEs, can complete AI price inquiries, intelligent price comparisons, multimodal product selection, precise demand matching, and compliance approvals in one seamless process. Real-world data shows that the AI procurement assistant has served over 200,000 enterprises, implementing more than 70 intelligent applications, reducing 80% of repetitive work, compressing communication cycles by 60%, and effectively lowering comprehensive procurement costs.

Ma Yushan emphasized that promoting AI in procurement is not about chasing trends but is an inevitable choice: "Serving tens of millions of SME clients cannot be achieved by infinitely expanding human teams. AI is the only way for us to improve service certainty."

To coordinate capabilities across multiple business lines, JD established the Government and Enterprise Service Committee earlier this year. "Previously, business units within the group operated independently. As the number of SME clients we serve surpassed the ten-million mark, we found that enterprise clients need holistic, full-chain cooperation with JD. The Government and Enterprise Service Committee is a virtual organizational structure whose core purpose is to integrate all of JD's B2B capabilities," Ma said. The tangible change this integration brings is that services such as employee health checkups, logistics and express delivery, cloud services, and commercial cleaning are now standardized and listed, allowing companies to directly order these services online just like purchasing physical goods.

Launch of the "SME Service Ecosystem Alliance"
On the same day as the upgrade, JD Business Procurement joined forces with leading professional service platforms including Changjietong, WPS365, Lenovo Baiying, and Minsheng E-Jia, as well as industrial parks, to establish the "SME Service Ecosystem Alliance." The alliance members include industry associations, brand manufacturers, digital and financial service partners, and industrial parks. It will integrate the core strengths of each member, break down industry barriers and resource silos, and provide SMEs with one-stop, full-scenario services covering "people, finance, goods, and operations."

Looking ahead, the alliance has set a three-year development goal: to partner with 100 leading service platforms and industrial parks to collectively serve 2 million SMEs. JD Business Procurement and Changjietong have already begun deep collaborative exploration: embedding JD Business Procurement capabilities into Changjietong's enterprise service product workflows. When users generate procurement orders and other business processes within the product, they can directly access JD Business Procurement's AI-powered intelligent product recommendation capabilities without switching between multiple platforms—providing a replicable model for cross-platform collaboration within the ecosystem.

With over a decade of deep cultivation, JD has become China's largest SME procurement service platform, serving more than 10 million SMEs and covering 95% of China's Top 500 Private Enterprises and 70% of specialized and sophisticated "little giant" enterprises. Going forward, JD will continue to leverage its supply chain depth and AI capabilities to help enterprises transform procurement from a cost center into an efficiency driver for their operations.
