On September 4, the 2026 Hunan (Changsha) Cross-Border E-Commerce Trade Fair officially opened at the Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center. Diplomatic envoys and overseas institutional representatives from Australia, Malaysia, Russia, Thailand and other countries attended with their enterprises for procurement, bringing together approximately 20,000 business visitors and guests in the "Star City" of Changsha.
Five Exhibition Zones Cover the Full Industry Chain Themed "Digital Intelligence Cross-Border · Hunan Trade Goes Global," the fair spans a total exhibition area of 13,000 square meters, adopting a "five offline exhibition zone" model that includes: cross-border e-commerce specialty zones, industrial cluster zones, service provider and industrial park zones, platform zones, and supply-demand matching zones—covering the entire cross-border e-commerce industry chain, ecosystem, and scenarios.
Fourteen cities and prefectures in Hunan Province presented their featured industrial clusters collectively: Changsha's construction machinery and electronic information, Zhuzhou's cemented carbide, Xiangtan's intelligent manufacturing, Shaoyang's specialty light industry, Yueyang's float fishing tackle, Changde's light industry and textiles, Yongzhou's leather goods and bags... a panoramic display of the "Hunan-made" manufacturing landscape. Local leading enterprises including Anker Innovations, S'Young Group, Sinocare, and Meimaid Technology showcased their flagship products across categories such as consumer electronics, new energy, medical devices, cultural creativity, and food and beverage.
Major platforms including Amazon Global Selling, Walmart Global E-commerce, Alibaba International Station, Temu, SHEIN, and AliExpress were all present, enabling enterprises to precisely match their target markets with the right export channels. Full-service providers spanning international logistics, overseas warehousing, third-party payments, intellectual property, and AI tools were also on site, accelerating the improvement of the service chain from transaction to delivery.
AI Reshapes Cross-Border E-Commerce: from "Being Searched" to "Being Recommended by Agents" As a key concurrent event of the fair, the 2026 Cross-Border E-Commerce High-Quality Development Ecosystem Summit was held under the theme "Digital Intelligence Cross-Border · Hunan Trade Goes Global," bringing together approximately 300 representatives from government, international organizations, major platforms, and industry-leading enterprises to discuss how AI technology is reshaping the entire cross-border e-commerce value chain.
Du Guochen, Director of the E-Commerce Research Institute at the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce, proposed in his keynote address that in the age of intelligent agents, products must not only be searchable by users but also be cited and recommended by models. Industry competition is shifting from "being searched" to "being understood, invoked, and recommended by intelligent agents."
Chen Hua, Director of Product Management for Industry Solutions at Amazon Web Services (AWS) China, shared practical applications of generative AI and intelligent agents in areas such as product selection, operations, and customer service. He pointed out that enterprises need to build a five-layer capability framework spanning models, data, and agent platforms.
Hunan Cross-Border E-Commerce: 7 Comprehensive Pilot Zones, Double-Digit Growth for 5 Years In his opening address, Deng Weiping, Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, noted that cross-border e-commerce, as a new business model and form of foreign trade, is playing an increasingly prominent role in promoting international trade facilitation and accelerating the restructuring of global supply chains, trade chains, and value chains. Hunan is anchoring its "Three Highlands, Four New Missions" blueprint and making cross-border e-commerce a key lever for building a highland for reform and opening up in the inland region.
Currently, Hunan Province has 7 cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, ranking among the top in central China. In the past five years, the province's cross-border e-commerce transaction scale has maintained double-digit annual growth, with Changsha firmly ranking among the national top ten and at the forefront of central China.
Deng Weiping stated that Hunan will continue to promote the expansion and quality improvement of its comprehensive pilot zones, pioneering in areas such as customs clearance facilitation and digital supervision; deepen industrial integration by advancing the "cross-border e-commerce + industrial cluster" model and accelerating the global layout of overseas warehouses; and strengthen service support by improving the full-factor support system covering talent, finance, logistics, and data.
International Cooperation and Brand Globalization Yap Nian En, Vice Chairman of the Malaysia Cross-Border E-Commerce Association, noted that Malaysia sits at the crossroads of Southeast Asia and serves as an important gateway from China to ASEAN. With unique advantages in halal certification, multilingual talent, and the RCEP framework, Malaysia looks forward to deepening cross-border e-commerce cooperation with Hunan for mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
In the "From Xiangjiang to the World" International Roundtable Dialogue, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on the pathways for Chinese brands to build lasting competitiveness in global markets, providing diverse perspectives and practical references for Hunan enterprises going global.
